Partners & Funders

California Department of Conservation
Funds SFCC to recycle tons of beverage containers and divert these recyclables away from clogged landfills. Teams of Corpsmembers work together to collect and sort recyclables, educate businesses and residents, and manage recycling at large-sale public events throughout San Francisco, ensuring that the events generate as little waste as possible. Funding for these recycling projects was authorized through California’s AB 2020, also known as The Bottle Bill.

Kimball Foundation
Supports the Corps’ education, outreach and career counseling services, focusing on academic enrichment, leadership and personal skill development, transition to college and environmental education.

Mayor’s Office of Community Development, City and County of San Francisco
Funds the Corps to provide job training for low-income individuals to construct safe and fun playground facilities, and to landscape and enhance under-used public spaces. SFCC’s work with MOCD has given San Francisco dozens of inviting, useful and beautiful public spaces.

Port of San Francisco
Funds the Corps to implement a Youth Employment Program, providing the Port with landscape maintenance activities, developing and repurposing the Southeast Sector of San Francisco.

Public Utilities Commission/SF Water Department
Supports the Corps to enhance the sensitive habitat of the Cystal Springs Reservoir and watershed in Millbrae.

REDF
SFCC has been chosen by REDF to be a member of their highly selective portfolio, exploring how to add a new, revenue-generating social enterprise to add more skills-development opportunities for Corpsmembers.

San Francisco Department of the Environment
Supports the Corps to implement recycling education and create recycling systems for many of the City’s large-scale public events. SFE has also funded the Corps to pilot a Green Jobs Program to educate and train low-income San Francisco residents for opportunities in green jobs.

San Francisco International Airport
The airport has funded SFCC to remove exotic plans and restore native plantings near the airport. The scope of work requires a biologist on site at all times while Corpsmembers are working, offering additional educational opportunities parallel with job training.

The San Francisco Recreation & Park Department
Funds SFCC to renovate playgrounds, conduct erosion control and restore natural areas.
